The Crucible… Which one are you…?

December 16, 2013 by phillipfrost

“Sooner or later, we all go through a crucible. Most believe there are two types of people who go into a crucible. The ones who become stronger from the experience and survive it, and the ones who die. But there’s a third type. The ones who learn to love the fire and choose to stay in their crucible because it’s easier to embrace the pain when it’s all you know anymore.” Which are you…?

Great post! Great question…I’m not quite sure who I am yet…it’s a gamble right now between becoming stronger and staying in the fire because it’s all I know.

What about you? What do you think it takes to make someone one or the other?

      Thank You πŸ™‚
Yes it’s definitely a tricky question.

For myself, I felt I was #3… because it is all I honestly knew and I was ok with that. Though advised otherwise friends and family I still stayed in the fire. Until early this year I took a leap of faith and changed my life 360. It was one of the hardiest things I have ever had to do on many levels. I have some how made it, beat the odds, came close to ending my own life and that only pushed me only further when I realized I haven’t done enough and I have only done more and bettered myself. I can say after everything I been through I am no longer in the fire. I am a survivor, I have taken what I have learned and applied it to my present and future instead of lingering in the past. I don’t think you can get to that stage without realizing something inside yourself. That you are strong enough to let go and to grow. Just my thoughts!

Wow, it sounds like you have quite an amazing story to tell. Changing focus (letting go of the pain and becoming a survivor who has been changed) is really difficult…it takes an identity change and that is never easy. I look forward to hearing more of your story!

It’s been quite difficult and took many years to achieve what I have reached. But the journey was well worth it, because of what I have learned from it. I wrote a new poem today. It’s called “Anthropomorphic” and a poem I wrote when I was going through my worst. I barley made it out of that mind set. It’s called “Golden Flight” tell me what you think if you are interested. πŸ™‚

I finally got to read your post today. It was really insightful! It sure sounds like you had some rough times…but then again these times offered you the experience and understanding that allowed you to write the way you do. I look forward to hearing more. πŸ™‚

Thanks for taking the time to read my stuff. yes life is not with out balance, I can’t have the good, the knowledge and understanding without the bad!! I wrote another poem if you have interest in reading called… “Once Upon A Time” something else dark. We def have to chit chat some more, I am sure you have stories of your own! πŸ™‚

We all have a lot of stories. That’s one of the most fascinating things about talking to others…hearing their stories.

Your poem (“Once Upon A Time”) is packed full of feelings…it seems like one that could be discussed line by line. That’s what is so cool about writing. So much can be packed into a small space and it is a great way for processing life.

Thanks πŸ™‚ Yes there is a lot going on in that poem. Best way to express myself is by getting it out and on paper. Hope you had a good Christmas.
